Brisbane ADR Forum and Christmas wrap up – 14 December 2011

Justice Ambeng Kandakasi in collaboration with Craig Jones and Callum Campbell will present on:

“Challenging and topical issues around the PNG ADR developments”. Topics to be canvassed include:

  • Comparisons between Australian and PNG Accreditation
  • making co-mediation a requirement before full accreditation in PNG and the arguments around it;
  • training and enabling Judges to mediate;
  • the concept of mediation/ADR as a nation building tool and
  • how can mediation enhance governance party certainty and thereby enhance economic development

Justice Ambeng Kandakasi is the Chair of the ADR committee of the National Court of PNG. He is the track Judge of the PNG National and Supreme Courts of PNG and has extensive experience in the management of mediation internationally. In the period since mid-2010 this team of Justice Kandakasi, Craig Jones and Callum Campbell have conducted mediation training and accreditation courses for the Solomon Islands’ High Court, the PNG National and Supreme Courts and associated judiciary and legal professions. All three have a commitment to the application of mediation in developing countries as a way of enhancing economic development in those countries.
